This is real—but stop calling it a guaranteed UN job or an easy visa route.

The official United Nations Volunteers platform publishes national and international on-site assignments in areas such as:

✅ Project management
✅ Engineering
✅ Public health
✅ Human rights and protection
✅ Communications
✅ Monitoring and evaluation
✅ Political and legal affairs

Selected volunteers may receive a monthly living allowance, insurance, travel-related support and other assignment-specific benefits. But this is not a regular salaried UN staff position.

Who can apply?

Applicants generally need to be at least 18. Under the Conditions of Service effective from 1 April 2026, the overall age range may extend up to 80. Education and experience requirements depend entirely on the individual assignment.

Deadline

There is no single global deadline. Every UN Volunteer assignment has its own closing date.

Important warning

A national assignment usually requires citizenship or eligible legal status in the country. To relocate abroad, you must specifically look for an international UN Volunteer assignment.

UNV charges no application, interview, training, processing or visa fee. Anyone demanding payment is not following the official UNV recruitment process.
